Essay

The dissertation is devoted to development of methods of formation and selection of transverse modes in laser resonators for making single-mode lasers with controlled characteristics of output radiation. The new method of a spatial Fourier-filtration modes in the open resonators for support of a single-mode excitation for oscillation type with the specified distribution of a field to one of mirrors or in the given plane outside of the resonator is proposed. It is realized in the experimental samples of CO2-lasers on the basis of the generalized confocal resonators with the non-uniform mirrors. New features of propagation for wave beams of laser radiation in hollow wavegides are established. Methods for a wave beam formation with the specified profile of radiation in waveguide resonator are proposed at use of the phase converter and the spatial filter on one of mirrors, and also due to correction of a phase of the basic mode of the resonator by change of the shape of one of mirrors. New methods of selection of transverse modes by use of a diaphragm, a part of the free space and the nonuniform mirror in waveguide one of mirrors.
