Essay

Object: processes in a natural electromagnetic resonator Earth - ionosphere. Purpose: development of new methods of radiosounding of lower ionosphere and monitoring of a world thunderstorm activity. Methods: measuring of electromagnetic ELF - VLF fields, mathematical methods of data processing, numerical modeling. Novelty: new direction in the study of a world thunderstorm activity is developed on the basis of decomposition of average spectra of ELF fields and with the use of methods of tomography. A new method of determination of characteristic parameters of lower ionosphere is offered as a result of analysis of spectral and polarization features of atmospherics. New ELF-VLF radio propagation effects are found, related to solar proton events, powerful earthquakes and atmospheric waves.
