Essay

The mappings of Grassmannians of buildings of classical types which send apartments to apartments are described; in particular, the bijective mappings satisfying this condition can be extended to isomorphism between the associated buildings. Transformations of Grassmannians non-related with buildings preserving the class of base subsets are investigated. Classical Dieudonne-Rickart's resuts are generalized.
