Essay

An alternative model of the sawtooth collapse in a tokamak is suggested, which is based on the assumption that the reconnection of magnetic field lines occurs in two current layers, in one of which the flux surfaces are split. The existence of the critical energy of trapped suprathermal ions during sawtooth oscillations is discovered; the ions with supercritical energies are insensitive to the collapses, whereas the ions with subcritical energies are redistributed. The anomalous electron heat conductivity cased by the resonance effect of a kinetic Alfven wave on electrons is revealed. The phenomenon of trapping of Alfven oscillations in waveguides is discovered. A criterion of stochasticity for the suprathermal ion diffusion caused by maghetic field ripple is obtained, which is valid for both the Goldston-White-Boozer diffusion and the diffision caused by the cyclotron resonance of particles and ripple.
