Iagupova L. Noun Word-building in Middle High German Dialects: Prefixes in Dynamic Aspect.

This thesis focuses on the investigation of prefixal nouns in Middle High German on the basis of the corpus of authentic manuscripts which represent texts of different types and genres, span different time periods and dialect areas. The main principles of the investigation are the dynamics of word-building system during all the Middle High German period and the variation caused by geographical and partly genre factors. There were traced the ways of formation and development, tendencies of prefixal noun word-building changes in Middle High German. The hypothesis about the absence of the common supradialectal literary language in the period was confirmed. It was found out that the noun prefixal word-building system was developing in the midst of dialect systems which interacted. The dynamics of development of individual word-building types and prefixal nouns at certain periods and in certain dialect areas was revealed. The assumption was made as to the time of appearance and/or disappearance of the corresponding word-building types and lexemes.
