This dissertation presents an integrated approach to researching the cognitive and communicative background of phonetic interference within the framework of cognitive and discourse paradigm. The thesis elaborates a theoretical background for the analysis of interaction between cognitive interfering and linguistic interfered elements in the phonetic system of bilingual Ukrainians' English speech. Varieties and degrees of phonetic interference in Ukrainians' English speech are revealed.
