The thesis deals with a research into legal conscience of Ukrainian society, its genesis and current state. In the research the main theoretical and methodological approaches to identifying the nature of legal conscience are summarized and the original author's communicative and discourse conception of legal conscience are substantiated. A detailed analysis of historical, ethnomental and civilization backgrounds of Ukrainian society legal conscience was performed by the author and the peculiarities of ordinary legal conscience of Ukrainian people were ascertained as a result. It is revealed in the paper that there is a correlation between the state of social legal conscience development and processes of state formation in present-day Ukraine. The main factors affecting the legal conscience development of modern Ukrainian society, namely: global civil society, means of mass communication and law-abiding society were examined in the thesis. Deformations in legal conscience of the Ukrainian society, reasons of their arising, their nature and consequences are identified and analyzed. The author suggests the ways of democratization of transformations in Ukrainian citizens' legal conscience.
