Essay

The dissertation is dedicated to the work of Maurice Ravel as a unique phenomenon of the French musical culture. The methodological basis of dissertation are tight connections of the "text" and "context" in several aspects – global, explicit, discursive, and implicit. A "communicative context" term (V. Mirkin) acquires an effective value which unites all context layers in accordance with the point of view selected by communicant. Also it exposes actual sense of the investigated artistic phenomenon. The Dandyism is discussed here for the first time as a basis of spiritual life of French art establishment on verge of XIX of – ХХ centuries. Moreover, the Dendyism is a foundation of the artistic – aesthetic system of Maurice Ravel – one of the most known dandies at his time. The manuscript defines the meaning of communicative context for understanding of musical texts of the composer. There are also enlightened periods of Ravel creativity, discovered artistic background for every stage, revealed the specificity of interaction of the musical texts and different types of contexts at late phase of his creative work.
