Naumenko V. System of a differentiated approach to early diagnosis and treatment of eye disease in diabetes mellitus

Object: diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular edema, secondary neovascular glaucoma.Aim - to develop the system of differential approach to early diagnostics and treatment of diabetic retinopathy and diabetic macular edema. Methods: visometry, biomicroscopy, ophthalmoscopy, tonometry, visual field perimetry, color photographing of the eye fundus, long-wave fundusgraphy, fluorescent angiography, optical coherent tomography, morphometry of peripapillar nervous fibers layer. For the first time it is established that the secondary neovascular glaucoma significantly more often associates with the I type of diabetes mellitus, than with the II one. Clinical classification of diabetic macular edema allows dividing it into stages. Disturbance of metabolic processes plays the leading role in pathogenesis of diabetic retinopathy in diabetes of type II. Inflammation has not the leading part in it. The complex system of estimation of diagnostic criteria for early diagnostics of non-proliferative DRP in patients with DM was created. Results of work are implemented in the Filatov Institute and many ophthalmologic units of regional hospitals of the cities Kryvoi Rog, Kiev, Uzhgorod, Sevastopol, Dnepropetrovsk.
