Chekan Y. Intonation image of the world as the category of historical musicology

First in Ukrainian musicology the Dissertation researches the methodology of historical musicology in context of new trends in general history. The research includes the following directions: problem domains of historical musicology development are discovered on the basis of system analysis; the subject of “History of Music” science finds its definition; the phenomenon of intonation image of the world is explored through tangent events, conceptions and categories; its advance from the metaphor to the category is analyzed and its structure and correlation with intonation is examined. The author offers two approaches for analysis of intonation image of the world in various scale levels: phenomenological and comparative. For the first time the analysis covers configurations of the world intonation image on examples of concrete works, creativity of national composers in certain genre sphere, genres and intonation practices, intonation framework of Russian composers School of second half of nineteenth century in general and in particular.
