Essay

The dissertation focuses on the study of synergetic approach to principles of the Modern English word-formation system organization and development. The research is aimed at determining self-regulation and self-organization mechanisms which ensure the word-formation system's relative stability in the process of its development. On the basis of extrapolation of fractals’ parameters on the structural organization of word-formation macrosystem the mechanisms of its development and self-construction on micro- and macrolevels has been revealed. Special attention is paid to the phenomenon of language units’ functional transorientation which contributes to the enrichment of word-forming means and leads to the perfection of verbocreative ways. Affixalization of lexemes or their fragments, lexicalization of morphemes and integration of syntactical units have been determined as mechanisms of interlevel transorientation. Conversion and semantic derivation have been identified as mechanisms of intralevel transorientation of lexical units.
