Essay

The critical phenomena of vaporization and consolution have been studied in inhomogeneous systems by optical and neutron methods. The model of critical state of substance as the gas of fluctuations of the order parameter has been improved within the framework of the fluctuation theory of phase transitions and Van der Waals equation; the extended equation of state has been proposed and tested. It has been revealed that the value of pressure gradients varies and depends on the linear dimension of system. These conclusions have been confirmed by the measurements of pressure. The nonmonotonic field and temperature dependences of the heat capacity of inhomogeneous substance have been investigated.
