This research focuses on the contrastive analysis of the utterance linear arrangement (ULA) in English, Russian and Ukrainian - revealing and systematizing the commomn and the language specific features of simple sentence structure and semanthics in order to determine the influence on the sentence linear arrangement of linguistic and extralinguistic factors (semantic and cognitive, in particular). On the basis of the complex and systemic analysis of utterance structural, semantic and functional characteristics new classifications of the sentence structural and semantic roles models are offered, as well as the slassification of adverbial modifiers. Common and language specific characteristics of ULA are revealed, and the reasons underlying the respective differences and symilarity are grounded up. Cognitive basis of the ULA is revealed. Correlation among the sentence syntactic structure, semantics and the text composition types is revealed and found out to be cognitevelly determined. The theses offeres a new "contrastive cognitive-semantic syntax" theory and formulates its conceptual provisions.
