Essay

Complex research of bartonellosis was presented in thesis. Monitoring of anti-Bartonella antibodies among a population of Kharkiv region was conducted and risk groups of infection were specified. Description of patients with bartonellosis, which diagnosis confirmed bacteriologically, serologically and molecular-genetically, was given. Reactivation of tuberculosis and toxoplasmosis on the background of bartonellosis and correlation between injection drug addiction and Bartonella infection was set in HIV-infected. Biological properties of regional strains of Bartonella spp. were determined. Assessment of modern methods of bartonellosis diagnostics, improvement of bacteriological and histological methods, development of in-house immunological test-systems, and realize of PCR were presented. Efficiency and expediency of the usage of these methods in clinic were scientifically substantiated
