Essay

The dissertation is the first Ukrainian literary criticism research of the phenomenon of neorealism of the first third of the 20th century. It is the first attempt of a historical and theoretical excursus to the history of origin, oblivion and revival of the term "neorealism" in Ukrainian and Russian literary criticism. The thesis focuses on world view principles of neorealism, which were formed during the period of the development of literary neorealism. The degree of dependence of neorealism on the traditional realism and modernism was identified. The fact of formation of neorealism on the basis of realism and symbolism was demonstrated. The formulated methodological principles of neorealism are specified on the prose works of V. Vinnichenko, V. Pidmogylny, M. Gorki, І. Bunin.
