Essay

This dissertation is the first complete review and analysis of the anthropological status of the idea of Freedom in Philosophy and Religious Studies. The author uses Historical-Philosophical and comparative methods in studying the phenomenon of Freedom. The process identifies several fundamental problems in religious studies which are found when trying to understand Freedom in religion. The identified problems relate to the existential character of the modern interpretational models of the freedom phenomenon in its legal and social understanding and individual expression. This work illustrates the unique characteristics of interpretation of the phenomenon of freedom in religion, in the context of the understanding the values of personal life as an important element in the religious studies of Judaism. The study explains the specific positions of ethical monotheism when analyzing freedom when the modernistic tendencies in current Judaism are included. This work identifies tendencies of development when describing the status of freedom in religion as it relates to the forming of new disciplinary directions in the Studies of Religion, especially in the "ethicology" of religion.
