Essay

The thesis substantiated the basis for implementation of one of the leading methods of Western political science - system analysis - in Ukrainian political science. For the first time in Ukrainian political science, theoretical principles and practical application of system analysis for studying of political phenomena and processes have been characterized. The history of systematic views on the world and evolution of system analysis as a scientific method have been described. The process of implementation of system analysis in political science and the peculiarities of its application for social and political research have been covered. Main principles of systems analysis have been distinguished and the algorithm of its usage in political science has been developed. The techniques, applied during each of its stages, have been systematized and described in details with the use of appropriate examples. It is emphasized that modeling is the key procedure within systems analysis; it is preceded by a preparatory phase and followed by the formulation of a policy decision. Author's classification of types of modeling (mathematic and simulation) have been developed and specific techniques, used for both, have been distinguished. New approaches to problems of further implementation of systems analysis in Ukrainian political science have been suggested.
