The dissertation has established specific characteristics of the course of the irritable bowel syndrome in patients with chronic obstructive disease of the lungs and bronchial asthma. A complex generalization of the mechanisms of forming changes of the MUCous barriers of the bronchi and the bowel due to a systemic inflammatory process in case of chronic obstructive diseases of the lungs and bronchial asthma is adduced. The mechanisms of progression and the factors of the formation of changes of the MUCous membranes have been detected on the basis of studying impaired MUCin production, changes of the fibrinolytic-proteolytic blood systems, an imbalance of the growth factors, the state of the sympathoadrenal system, microbial biocenosis and the metabolic activity of the flora and morphological and immunohistochemical changes of the MUCous tunics of the bronchi, depending on the presence of the concomitant syndrome of irritable bowel. An algorithm of diagnosing the activity of an inflammatory process and a method of treating combined pathology has been proposed. A regimen of a differentiated treatment has been pathogenetically substantiated, elaborated and approved and whose application reduces the percentage of the formation of complications.
