Essay

Genesis of short story genre, the history of its run-in and modernization in the epoch at the turn of the XIX - XX c.c. in Ukraine and Russia has been investigated. Definition of modern short story in its theoretical characteristics of comparative aspect of Ukrainian-Russian receptive discourse of short story and modern disputes in accordance with genre essence is presented. By comparative-typological analysis on the material of considerable literary works of short story production of Ukrainian and Russian writers literary-typological coincidences and differences within thematic, stylish, formally-substantial, structural characteristics of modern short story have been given.
