Essay

The work is dedicated to the improvement of prevention, prediction, diagnosis and treatment of various forms (acute, reactivated chronic, latent) of prenatal and postnatal CMV and HSV infections and their complications. In the context of active forms of these infections it is shown that there is a pathological effect on the fetus caused not only by its direct infection but mostly by the indirect damage of fetoplacental complex with violation of functional activity of placenta. The value of the individual immunological and hormonal parameters for early diagnostics of placental dysfunction in women with active forms of herpes virus infections was determined and a new diagnostic approach was suggested. The study reveals the symptoms, that significant for the differential diagnosis of CMV infection period (prenatally or postnatally). The work suggests scientifically based approach to the administration of specific immunoglobulins, depending on duration of the infection (in utero or postnatal) and the availability of specific anti-viral antibodies
