Essay

Purpose - increasing the productivity and quality of surfacing, improving of wear and crack resistance, saving material and energy sources. These problems have an important influence on the efficiency of the metallurgical equipment. The object of study - a process of submerged arc surfacing by a composite strip electrode. The subject of study - an area of forming of surfacing bead; thermophysical and metallurgical features of process of submerged arc surfacing by a composite strip electrode; materials, technology and equipment for realization of submerged arc surfacing. Methods - a mathematical design; methods of sounding of interelectrode interval; chemical and spectral analyses; optical and raster electronic microscopy; methods of determination of operating descriptions of deposited metal. Novelty - The new method of submerged arc surfacing is based on the design of composite strip electrode allowing independent angles of rotation and speed of the central and lateral strips. It effectively influences the size and shape of the weld pool, as well as non-uniformity of the depth of penetration. The mathematical model of heat propagation in the base metal using submerged arc surfacing with composite strip electrode was developed. The calculated results of the mathematical model show the influence of geometry of composite strip electrode shape on the shape of the weld pool. The development of the strip electrode composition and additional alloying using new ceramic flux confirmed the effectiveness of this technology. The new technology of submerged arc surfacing with composite strip electrode heterogeneous multilayer and single layer composition is developed using the results of mathematical model. Results - Development of new technology and materials at "Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol" has increased the service life of the rolls and productivity of roll wear. Some of the scientific developments are used in the educational process of students and postgraduate students. Scope of use - ferrous metallurgy (metallurgical equipment).
