The object of the research : Regional development of the national economy. The objective: To summarize and systematize the variety of theories and concepts of regional development, to identify and analyse various forms of expression of regional factor and its determining impact on economic development, to develop conceptual approaches to the new regional policy and mechanism of state regulation of regional development of the national economy adequate to modern conditions.The methods of the research: Historical and logical analysis, interdisciplinary, comparative, structural and functional analysis, cluster-spectral analysis, Delphi, economic and statistic, graphic.The scientific novelty : for the first time the signs of modern regionalization are defined on the basis of subjective and objective, institutional and reproduction, synergistic criteria, the multidimensional evaluation model of uneven regional socio -economic development is worked out based on the methodology of cluster- spectral analysis, the author's concept of state regulation of regional development is proposed; the categorial matrix of the research of regional development is improved through the implementation of macroeconomic interpretation of the term "region in the national economy ", the criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of regional economic policy, the conceptual approaches to implementation of cluster policy as a priority direction of territorial development, the methodological approaches to the classification of factors of the emergence of regional disparity .
