Essay

A new class of structurally nonlinear boundary value problems of the theory of plates and shells with coupled boundary conditions at the intersections has been formulated and solved. The model of cracks edges contact under bending of plates and shells has been proposed. The kinematic contradiction related to the mutual penetration of crack surfaces has been resolved, and the range of loads which provides a valid as-sessment of the limiting state of defective structures has been significantly expanded.
