The dissertation thesis is devoted to development of theoretical - methodological approaches and methodological bases and practical recommendations for state regulation of innovative development of publishing - printing activities in the knowledge economy, as well as the justification of practical recommendations for their implementation. In the thesis the role of information and knowledge in the process of the knowledge economy development, subsequently connected with the publishing and printing industry. Investigated the key characteristics of a high rate development of the leading countries and the parameters of their national economies, allowing to determine the "contours" of the knowledge economy and create priorities in the innovative development of Ukrainian economy. Defined and identified key threats to the formation of a knowledge economy in Ukraine in the field of science, research and design, innovations, education and training, information and communication technologies. Improved classification of information channels, allowing consumer-readers to justify the priority of communication used that contribute the most to the growth of human capital. Systematically and hierarchically ordered key threats to the publishing and printing industry. A mechanism for information security management elaborated, including the place and the task specifications of publishing and printing industry as subjects of information security. Improved conceptual apparatus, the models of the operating environment and publishing and printing industry, taking into cosideration the parameters of a post-industrial society. Formed the genesis of the transformation of publishing and printing industry by identifying the key parameters of its operation under the planned economy, in the process of transformation of the national economy and in the period of the knowledge economy formation. Elaborated concept of innovative development of publishing and printing industry state regulation, taking into account national peculiarities of publishing and printing activities in Ukraine and the international experience of using the levers of economic incentives. Developed organizational and economic mechanism for the innovative approach in publishing and printing industry, incuding issues of special purposed training for the publishing structures, printing companies and bookselling organizations, designed to realize the interests of the enterprises and the state. Developed and applied a model that characterizes the relationship between the intensity of expenditure on technological innovation, and the index of demand for printed products, which contributed to the justification of future-oriented development strategies, publishing and printing industry.
