Essay

The object is the near-Earth plasma and processes of HF radio wave propagation through it. The aim is the development and validation of a new radio method of remote sensing of the ionosphere which is based on the use of frequency-angular characteristics of the probe HF signals. A new approach has been developed to solving the problem of remote diagnostics of the ionosphere which permits recovering 3D inhomogeneous structure of the near-Earth plasma, including Traveling Ionospheric Disturbances (TІD). Results are presented of investigating TIDs at midlatitudes and in the Antarctica. The application area is the remote sensing of the ionosphere and upper atmosphere physics.
