The discusses future issues of development of the risk-informed approach (RIA) to support and implement measures to improve the safety and efficiency of nuclear power plants in the paper. To the improving the safety by using the developed RIA solution issues for BRU-A qualification and the elements of the active part of the ECCS modernization, as well as the radiation monitoring system interloop leaks modernization analysis. To the improving the operational efficiency by using the developed RIA for: introducing the concept of Reliability Centred Maintenance; reduce of the volume test of the containment system of WWER-1000; the possibility of replacing the continuous monitoring to the periodic monitoring; changes in maintenance strategies of safety related system under transition from 12 - to 18-month fuel cycle
