Essay

The issue of foreign policy of the United States of America and the Russian Federation in the Persian Gulf in the post-bipolar period has been studied on the base of an efficient examination of multiple sources, scientific literature and informational and analytical material. It presents a comparative analysis of US foreign policy strategy made by Harry Truman, Dwight D.Eisenhower, John. F. Kennedy, John Carter, Ronald Reagan, George. W. Bush Sr, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush Jr and also Barack Obama. The origin and sources of the US-Russia confrontation in the Persian Gulf region during the "cold war" period have been examined. It has been proved that during the time of bipolar world regional competition between Washington and Moscow in the Persian Gulf was based on political and economic principles. Since the early 1990s the Persian Gulf states have entered the areas of vital interests to the USA, and in the early 2000 the Russian Federation classed the countries of the region with the category of its foreign policy priorities. The author showed that the foreign policy of the White House and the Kremlin in the Gulf region has changed significantly. In the 1990s after overcoming the Kuwait crisis the US and Russia have demonstrated a willingness to cooperate in addressing regional problems in order to maintain peace and security in the Persian Gulf. However, after 2003 the US anti-Iraq operation in the Gulf the interstate political cooperation has grown into the US-Russia foreign competition.
