Essay

Martensitic transformations have been found to be one of the main reasons of the spontaneous phase separation of mix-valenced manganites. It has been shown for the first time that martensitic phase transformations are typical for a broad class of manganites both undergoing or not undergoing a phase transformation to the charge-ordered state. Magnetic behavior of the spontaneous phase segregated compounds is a cluster-glass one. A strong coupling between Nd and Mn magnetic subsystems has been found in neodymium manganites
