Essay

Dissertation research is devoted to the problem of integration into society of people with disabilities. Analyzed are various theories regarding the stages, patterns, and characteristics of the process of integration into society of persons with visual impairments. Systematic barriers, factors and criteria of social integration of blind and visually impaired people are determined. Conducted is an experimental study of the consciousness of a person with low vision, strategy development and communication in interpersonal interaction, depending on the level and time of vision loss. The problems of inclusive education at secondary school and higher education, professional self-determination of blind and visually impaired people are outlined. Also carried out a pilot study of the psychological readiness of the company for the integration of persons with visual impairments in various aspects of life. Developed is a model of socio-psychological support to optimize integration into the society of the blind and visually impaired people and its effectiveness is experimentally verified. Proposed is the integrated system of methodical recommendations on socio-psychological work psychologists, social pedagogues, teachers, assistant teachers, and other professionals who work in various special and mainstream schools, community associations, rehabilitation centers for people with disabilities, higher education institutions, professional groups, and families of blind and visually impaired children.
