Essay

The thesis is devoted to the theoretical and numerical study of microwave properties of spintronic magnetic nano-structures including spin-torque nano-oscillators (STNOs) and spin-torque microwave detectors (STMDs), as well as microwave devices on its basis. A new research field involving a theory of novel microwave signal sources based on STNOs and microwave devices based on STMDs is being established. A theory of mutual phase synchronization of two or more STNOs separated by an arbitrary distance is developed and used to describe the properties of microwave systems with STNO and STMD arrays. The theory of microwave generators based on single STNOs and STNO arrays has been developed. The cases of a dipole radiation generator, a generator based on a vortex-state STNO and a generator based on the dual-free-layer STNO are considered. Their microwave properties are analyzed and optimized. A theory of a resonance-type STMD and a threshold-type STMD has been developed. Noise-handling properties of the resonance-type STMD were investigated and optimized. The microwave properties of a non-resonant STMD were also considered. The theoretical models of various microwave devices based on single STMDs and STMD arrays are proposed and their microwave properties are analyzed.
