Essay

The thesis comprehensively review and analyze the patterns of development and key issues of Christian anthropology of XX - XXI century. We use historical, philosophical and comparative research methods of representations of human in diversity of modern Christianity currents, distinguishes features of philosophical, religious and theological approaches to their analysis. Outlines a range of research interests within the context of Western, Russian and Ukrainian religious studies. Highlights patterns of understanding of human nature and features of its interpretations in currents of traditional denominations in the context of conflicting historical and cultural events of the twentieth century. Disclosed general logic of the modern Christian anthropology - from dogmatic metaphysical theology to the emergence of various forms of modern anthropology, which combined different faith, mysticism and philosophy. Singled tendencies of development and transformations of understanding of fundamental concepts of Christian anthropology in accordance with public inquiries at beginning of the XXI century. Defined the influence of epistemological theories and methodological approaches of modern philosophy on general renewal of Christian theology in the anthropological manner. Analyzed the conceptual provisions that are the essence of modern Orthodox, Catholic and Protestant anthropology, identified fundamental vectors of their development. Analyzed the meaning of the "image and likeness of God," "freedom of choice", "love" in their anthropological context. Considered the main essential characteristics of contemporary Christian anthropology and its possible impact on overcoming anthropological and spiritual crisis of modern society.
