Klitynska O. Complex justification of early diagnosis, prevention and phased treatment of caries in children who permanently live in the conditions of biogeochemical deficiency of fluorine and iodine.

The thesis is devoted to the development of a new direction of preventive dentistry, through the establishment of regional programs aimed at early diagnosis, a timely prevention and phased treatment of caries in children who permanently live in the conditions of biogeochemical deficiency of fluorine and iodine, that are based on the geographic, environmental, social and ethnic characteristics of the region. The conducted epidemiological investigation of dental status in 4203 children of Transcarpathian region revealed that the prevalence of caries of deciduous teeth is 98.3% with 14.9 intensity; permanent teeth - 91.4%, with 11.3 intensity. It was developed a complex functional-organizational model of early diagnosis, prevention and treatment of caries, the central element of which is children, who must have healthy teeth. It was created the phased program of complex prevention of common dental diseases in children who permanently live in the conditions of biogeochemical deficiency of fluorine and iodine, including: hygienic education of preschool children and their parents; exogenous drug prevention; early detection and treatment of caries using conventional methods according to the treatment protocols; endogenous non-drug prevention. Index of caries-preventive effectiveness of the proposed scheme was 69.5% for children of 5-7 years; for children of 8-10 age group was 66.9%.
