Essay

The thesis presents а new solution, clinical and experimental substantiation of scientific problem of dentistry, which implies elaboration of a new concept for efficacy improvement of complex treatment of patients with generalized periodontitis (GP) of the II-III degrees with signs of systemic osteopenia. It is based on contemporary etiotropic and pathogenically directed methods, using medications based on glycosaminoglycans (GAG) with local and general action. The results of experimental biometric, cytochemical, histological and histochemical investigations, obtained in experimental model of periodontitis and systemic osteoporosis using four pathogenically directed medications with general action for treatment of systemic osteoporosis, namely "Osteogenon", "Vitrum® Osteomag", "Bivalos®" and "Teraflex®", showed the ability of only medication "Teraflex®", based on chondroitin sulfate and glucosamine hydrochloride, to effectively diminish resorption intensity of bone tissue of the alveolar processes and simultaneously promote optimization of reparative osteogenesis. In animals, treated with "Teraflex®", absence of molar loosening, marked elevation of the level of bone tissue of interdental and interradicular septa, confirmed by closure of furcation defects, were noticed.
