Essay

The thesis presents the results of research aimed at development of theoretical bases and technologies of the complex utilization of fixed gas and liquid waste and their energy recuperation within their integrated production complex of pigmentary TiO2, based on mutual neutralization of some emissions by others. The thorough environmental analysis of gas and liquid emissions characteristics of TiO2 production complex is done. It is defined that the main atmosphere pollutant is sulfur(IV) oxide. Based on a deep understanding of chemical and physical properties of the researched systems, their mathematical description, the scientific concepts of waste utilization as well as energy recuperation of individual stages within a specified industry are proposed. The proposed concepts were tested in laboratory and industrial conditions on consolidated laboratory and factory setting. Experimentally validated concepts became the basis for creating technological processes of waste utilization and energy recuperation of the following stages and productions: sulfuric acid ilmenite decomposition, hydrolysis of tytanil sulfate, roasting of metatitanic acid paste; sulfuric acid and red ferric oxide pigments. The developed technological processes are proposed for the industrial implementation and the appropriate output data are provided for the industrial design.
