Essay

The thesis explores the dialectics of the religious and the secular actualized in the contemporary Turkish linguoculture. Focusing on the identification of the relationship between language and thinking, the paper analyzes the semantics of lexemes determined by the culture of an ethnos. The study looks at the constants of thinking and the peculiar worldview of the Turkish people on the basis of Turkish linguistic and cultural characteristics of the religious and the secular. The dichotomy of the religious and the secular in Turkish linguoculture is revealed in the context of examining the notions of “sacralization” and “desacralization”. The study specifies the definition of certain scientific concepts and terms, such as linguistic desacralization, sacralization, resacralization, etc., compares semasiological, lexical and phraseological terminology (names of the processes of metaphorization, metonymization, semantic changes) in Turkish and Ukrainian linguistics, gives grounds for the methods of analyzing the dialectics of the religious and the secular in Turkish linguoculture (involving an experiment) that can also be applied to other languages. The research demonstrates and details the peculiarities of lexeme sacralization in religious and enigmatic discourses.
