The aim of our thesis is to study the role of biomechanical properties of the fibrous eye membrane with refractive anomalies and keratoconus. The study offered methods and devices for measuring biomechanical parameters of the cornea and sclera in vivo. Thanks to the creation of the stress-strain condition model of cornea and sclera with a uniform constant mechanical compression we designed the formula determining the factor of corneal rigidity KER and sclera rigidity KES, the coefficients that allow quantitative assessment of biomechanical properties of the cornea and sclera in different clinical conditions. The diagnostic and prognostic methods for the eyes with myopia and keratoconus were determined. As a result, the factor signs for risk identification of the progression of myopia and keratoconus were established. The research determined the efficiency of measuring corneal and sclera rigidity by offered method in comparison with ocular response analyzer (ORA) and elastotonometry. The new methods development for assessing biomechanical properties of the cornea and posterior segment of the sclera in vivo and system of means of struggle with the development of refractive errors and keratoconus are highly demanded and timely for ophthalmology. They will improve the level and life quality of the people with problems of vision in Ukraine, reduce disability among visually impaired people and solve the important scientific and practical problem of modern ophthalmology.
