The thesis is a detailed analysis of the stages of formation and further development of the center-left movement in Bulgaria in the late XIX - early XX century. The author decides the task using a comprehensive methodology in which the elements of modernization theory are intertwined with the positivistic conclusions and become the foundation for a broader civilizational parallels (mechanism of "cultural and political mediation"). The paper analyzes in detail the conditions of a center-left movement formation, explores the causes and nature of its organizational separation. At the same time, the focus is on the main areas of not only domestic but foreign policy of the center-left fraction, most vividly reflected in Macedonian strategy of the Union "Proletarian" (later centrist "Left" BWSDP (u)). For a more complete awareness of the center-left movement specifics in Eastern Europe (Bulgaria in particular), the author uses the method of comparative analysis, comparing the dynamics of the development of the Bulgarian socialist centrism with similar processes in the social democratic movement in Russia.
