Essay

The thesis is a complex study of the Orthodox context of everyday religious life in the modern Ukrainian society. It is grounded the interpretation of everyday life of a Ukrainian Orthodox believer as an objective reality, field of deployment of the phenomenon of religion, sphere of social existence of a believer and a component of his or her living world which has mutual communicative space, ensures socialization, reproduces communal and individual forms of religiosity. It is found out that everyday life of the Ukrainian Orthodox believer is a sphere of interaction of social and supernatural worlds which includes everyday consciousness, everyday practices, relations and communication in the religious community. Everyday life of the believer becomes apparent in mental structures of everyday consciousness, confessional identity, storing and transmission of religious traditions which objectify religious experience by means of religious practices. The break of continuity in broadcasting of the Orthodox tradition, existential challenges of modernity cause the problems of Orthodox religious choices, confessional affiliation, identity of Ukrainian believers of Orthodox jurisdictions. Apart from the language of divine services and vision of civilized choice of Ukraine everyday life of Orthodox believers of different jurisdictional affiliations has similar features.
