Kiyanka І. Historical forms of conceptualization of populism as a category of political science and ideological norm.

The main theoretical approaches to the interpretation of the phenomenon of populism that have developed in political science are described. It is shown that the main dimensions of populism are (ideological, rational, rhetorical, manipulative, technological, etc.). The author's concept of formation of the idea and practice of populism as a multifaceted political construct, which performs the integrative-cognitive function of structuring and constructing a complex and controversial political reality with elements of social, discursive and praxeological eclecticism, is presented. The characteristic feature of populism is outlined – the extreme parameters of functioning of the state-political organism of society and the value projections of its existence.
