The dissertation is based on a wide range of Ottoman Turkish written sources, and on Crimean-Tatar chronicles and presents the first complex study of significance and importance of their informational resources for researching in the field of History of Cossack-Hetman Ukraine of the second half of the 16th century and the first quarter of the 18th century. The methodology lying in the foundation of this scientific study provides an adequate comprehension of the studied documents. The scientific value of the information obtained from the studied written sources lies not only in fixation and chronologisation of the events and phenomena significant for the History of Ukraine, but also in evident efforts of the authors to suggest their own consideration of the events. This feature of the Turkish chronicle-writing proves its historiographic importance and demonstrates its direct connection with the History of the Cossack-Hetman Ukraine in the context of the foreign policy of the Ottoman Empire and the Crimean Khanate, and, consequently, goes in accordance with general tends of the world historic development. This fact determined the need to analyse the historical circumstances under which the corresponding written sources were created.
