Essay

The thesis is devoted to research of the interaction of secular and religious aspects in the style of vocal and choral creativity of G. Sviridov. The spiritual world of composer, his connection with the Russian philosophical and religious heritage of the early twentieth century have been revealed. The analysis of stylistic principles of artistic thinking of the composer has been carried out. The dynamics of his vocal and choral style is determined by the deep "modulation" of the composer's worldview: from the secular (homo soveticus) to the Christian (homo credens). Three groups of semantic signs, formed in vocal and choral creativity of G. Sviridov have been distinguished: anthropocentric; metaphysical; liturgical. The role of Christian symbolism in the works of Soviet time and revival of the traditions of Orthodox liturgical singing in the late period of composer's creativity have been defined.
