Essay

The dissertation aims to increase the effectiveness of dental caries prevention in children considering the enamel resistance. The results of clinical, laboratory, physical, sociological, psychological and statistical research indicate the influence of a complex of risk factors on the formation of enamel resistance. It is manifested by the change of mineralizing properties, physical, biochemical and immunological parameters of oral fluid. The physical characteristics of the enamel with different levels of caries resistance were also investigated. It has been established that indех of microhardness of caries resistant enamel is much lower while roughness is higher compared to the same indices of caries-susceptible enamel. Micro-spectral analysis of the chemical composition of the enamel has shown that higher content of calcium, fluoride, phosphorus, magnesium and lower content of chlorine, sodium, carbon, oxygen, and zinc were found in samples of caries resistant enamel in comparison with caries-susceptible enamel. Obtained results of the research allowed substantiating the approaches to improving the effectiveness of dental caries prevention in accordance with the levels of enamel resistance. It was performed by evaluation of the factors influencing its formation and the substantiated application of preventive tools directed at improving the enamel resistance to dental caries. Сlinical observations have shown that the suggested differentiated approach to prevention contributes to the formation of enamel resistance, thereby prevents from the development of dental caries.
