The thesis analyzes the theory and practice of professional training of future foreign languages teachers in higher educational institutions of Ukraine in the period 1948–2016. The historiographical analysis of the problem was carried out and the theoretical and practical aspects of the development of professional training of future foreign languages teachers in higher educational institutions of Ukraine in 1948–2016 were substantiated. The methodological basis of the research is the systematic, synergistic, historical-chronological, cultural, competence, activity, personal, spatial and medieval approaches, which are examined on the basis of methodological principles (scientific, essential analysis, integrity, historical and pedagogical objectivity, historical-modern correction, retrospective etc.). The essence of the concept «professional training of future foreign languages teachers» is specified in terms of its components (training, professional training, professional and pedagogical training, future teacher’s training, teacher of foreign language). It is stated as the process of students mastering the basics of theoretical and special knowledge and applying them in practice; mastering of foreign communication skills for successful fulfillment of professional tasks of cognitive, practical character, which should be applied in future professional-pedagogical activity; the formation of important professional qualities for the future specialist. It is revealed that each historical and pedagogical period of the formation of the theory and practice of professional training of future foreign languages teachers in higher educational institutions of Ukraine took place under the influence of permanent and variables political, economic and socio-cultural factors.
