In recent decades, the role of knowledge in the economy grew steadily, gaining a strong influence in terms of its development and dynamics. In modern conditions the competitiveness of the country, its economic independence and successful integration into the developed world system and prospects is impossible without knowledge production, accumulation and practical use. The summarizing categorical apparatus of scientific research and the knowledge economy, compiled by category matrix which reflects the object and subject of research of formation of economy of knowledge in the chain: universal → general → particular → unit → specific category divided into spheres of application in fundamental and experimental science. Described conceptual approaches to the formation of a knowledge society. Selected characteristic features of the knowledge society and its core values. The structure of the information society in the form of the sector model. Installed typical and more acceptable for the conditions of Ukraine the types of groups an institutional mechanism for the development of the knowledge economy. Set the main directions of assessment of efficiency of formation of knowledge economy in the field of socio-economic relations in the production: to determine the attitude and degree of involvement of the parties in effecting change; the establishment of a constructive dialogue, culture talks; increasing the level of competence of employees and the degree of their social maturity; changes in behavior, communication, cooperation, teamwork, leadership style and delegation of authority; improving the economic and social results of the work of a particular organization. The use of obtained theoretical, methodological and practical developments aimed at development of measures on formation of the knowledge economy in the agricultural sector.
