The integrate understanding the peculiarities of personal dimension the political space of independent Ukraine on the basis of represented references, theoretical achievements of domestic and foreign political science was formed in the dissertation. The scientific novelty of the obtained results is to substantiate the idea that one of the main reasons for the weakness and vulnerability of the independent Ukrainian state is the lack of prominent personalities in the political space who, through their will, authority, talent and abilities, would contribute to the processes of state development, modernization and strengthening. This novelty specificity the follow points: For the first time in political science, on the basis of theoretical analysis of existing interdisciplinary approaches to the nature, essence and content of the phenomenon "personality", the author's basic understanding of the concept of "elitist personality in politics" was formulated. One of the main regularities of the influence of prominent personalities on the processes of early state formation was revealed; it was established that such a pattern could be traced in the analysis of historical experience. The essence of the regularity was: states with prominent personalities may have existed over time, and on the contrary, those state entities that lost such people quickly disappeared from the historical arena. It had been substantiated that the role of the personal factor in politics was strongly connected with the historical, political, socio-economic and cultural features of the society development, in particular, it had been proved that any attempts to establish a single authoritarian power in independent Ukraine would not succeed because the authoritarian style of behavior, accordingly, the authoritarian model of governance did not belong to the typical features of the Ukrainian national character and had always risen protests, since it (character) was primarily characterized by democracy, love of freedom, tolerance, etc. However, it was undeniable that the demand for personality in domestic politics remains extremely high, and this circumstance requires further research and creative exchange of views between Ukrainian scientists. It had been proved that in independent Ukraine, with the external pluralism of political opinions and positions, which created the illusion of democracy, real power belonged to a very limited scope of persons belonging to certain oligarchic clans. For the most part, political requests and interests of citizens were not taken into account or completely ignored by the authorities. There were practically no effective and at the same time legitimate mechanisms for realizing a person's political activity, transforming it from an object into a subject of political activity. It had been substantiated that in the reforms taking place in Ukraine, the individual had not taken the position yet. As a result, the process of alienating citizens from politics hinders was the emergence of civil society and the rule of law. The state, problems and prospects of further scientific researches of the power aspirations of the personality had been characterized; in particular it was necessary to pay attention to the correlation between the desire to dominate and the real abilities of a person to exercise power effectively. The provisions of the dissertation were of theoretical and practical importance, allowing expanding the space for further interdisciplinary theoretical study of issues related to the personal dimension of Ukrainian politics.
