Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the improvement of diagnosis and treatment of patients with COPD in combination with IHD by a comprehensive assessment of clinical presentation, pathogenic factors, as well as the identification of prognostic risk factors for periodontal diseases. The study is based on an in-depth assessment of the condition of the oral cavity, including periodontal tissues, in 239 patients with COPD and IHD. The study involved evaluation of clinical, cytological, immunohistochemical and biochemical features in periodontal tissues depending on the duration of baseline therapy in COPD patients in combination with IHD. Patients receiving basic therapy more often than others for a longer period were found to have characteristic dental complaints as a consequence of drug polypharmacy. The study showed numerous associative links between many of the indicators under investigation and medication used to treat COPD and IHD. Duration of drug administration in COPD, smoking, KPI index, PMA, gum recession rate and CD95 + were found to be the most informative markers exerting a significant influence on the likelihood of periodontitis development.
