Essay

The thesis deals with a holistic systematic analysis of forming professional reliability in future physical education teachers. The thesis clarifies the essence of such basic concepts as “reliability”, “professional reliability”, “functional reliability”, “current reliability”, “potential reliability” and proposes their author’s interpretation. It also describes the specificity of physical education teachers’ professional activities in the context of forming professional reliability due to the impact of certain objective and subjective factors. It justifies the concept of professional reliability in future physical education teachers and determines its structure based on a theoretical analysis of relevant scientific literature, the integration of knowledge about the theory of reliability and the recognition of the specificity of professional activity. Professional reliability of future physical education teachers is considered as an integrative professional-personal quality, which ensures the ability to carry out professional activity efficiently and with optimal resource costs, which is primarily aimed at solving complex instructional, health-related and educational tasks under the given conditions of professional activity for a certain time. The thesis singles out the components of professional reliability in future physical education teachers. They are morpho-functional, cognitive, motivational, personality- and activity-oriented. It describes the criteria (resources, knowledge, reflection, procedures), indicators and levels (low, average, high) of professional reliability in future physical education teachers. It also presents the developed methods and scale for evaluating professional skills of future physical education teachers. At the methodological, theoretical and methodical levels, the thesis justifies the author’s conception of forming professional reliability in future physical education teachers, which is based on the provisions of modern philosophical anthropology, paired categories of dialectics, universal connections with determination, as well as certain methodological approaches (integrative, systemic, synergetic, activity-oriented, humanistic, subjective, acmeological, competency-based, technological, innovative) and general scientific, didactic, educational and specific principles. The thesis determines and substitutes pedagogical conditions for forming professional reliability in future physical education teachers: updating the content of professional training for future physical education teachers based on an integrative approach; forming a positive motivation towards professional activity, taking into account individual psychological characteristics of students; improving physical training of future physical education teachers based on the diversification and expansion of physical exercises; focusing teacher placements on the solving of complex instructional, health-related and educational tasks. It also discloses the implementation of these pedagogical conditions during professional training in higher education institutions. The thesis includes the developed, justified and experimentally verified system for forming professional reliability in future physical education teachers. This system is a complex of interconnected conceptually targeted, theoretical and methodological, formative and activity-oriented, controlling and evaluative sub-systems represented in the form of a model. The mechanism for implementing the system of forming professional reliability in future physical education teachers is presented through the introduction of purposeful pedagogical measures in the educational process that do not violate the integrity and logic of professional training. The results from the implementation of this system show some positive formation dynamics of professional reliability in future physical education teachers. Based on the conducted theoretical and methodological analysis of the problem under study, the taught programme and curriculum of professional training have been updated. In addition, educational, methodological and material-and-technical support for forming professional reliability in future physical education teachers in higher education institutions has been developed. The results obtained in the course of an experimental study indicate the effectiveness of the developed author’s conception and model of the system for forming professional reliability in future physical education teachers.
