Sitnicki M. Strategic Management of the Development of Ukrainian Research Universities: Theory and Practice.

The thesis elaborates theoretical foundations for the strategic management of the development of research universities and mechanisms for its implementation in the practice of Ukrainian research universities. The concept of strategic management of the development of research universities is introduced with the specific mechanism for its implementation in the information society. Transformation of the mission and public recognition of a research university as a phenomenon are substantiated and problems of the research universities’ development are specified as objects of strategic management. Based on the methodological principles of the global rating assessment of universities, the strategic management tools have been adapted to develop and implement research university development strategies, their research core has been identified, which translates scientific knowledge in the educational process, generates new scientific knowledge, educates new generations of researchers and specialists, creates sustainable channels for dissemination of new scientific and technological information through the provision of various scientific and information services. The national rating of research universities of Ukraine is proposed to be implemented through the construction of specialized rankings that reflect the quality of the potential and results of scientific and technical and innovation activities, a strategic analysis of the best practices of strategic management of the development of world-class research universities with the use of rating tools.
