Essay

The important scientific problem concerning the scientific substantiation and development of theoretical and methodological provisions on multinational company staff management in the context of diversity of national cultures (cross-cultural environment) and applied recommendations for their implementation have been carried out in the dissertation. The methodological basis of multinational company staff management in the conditions of diversity of national cultures has been performed, and it is based on the original combination of theoretical and methodological view of multinational company staff management in order to avoid contradictions that arise in the staff management of multinational company: counteraction of national and organizational culture, cross-cultural conflicts between the representatives of different cultural groups and the dissimilarity of their cultural values. The concept of multinational company staff management in the context of cross-cultural environment has been grounded and it is based on the influence of three cultural levels: national, generational and organizational. The essence of the definition of “multinational company” was determined in the context of cross-cultural management. The peculiarity of it is the cross-cultural feature which demonstrates cross-cultural interaction of company staff both in the internal environment and or in the external environment of a multinational company, as a key feature of multinationality of a company. The conceptual and categorical apparatus of cross-cultural management has been clarified regarding the interpretation in the substantive field of the humanistic paradigm of staff management of such definitions as “cross-cultural management”, “culture”, “national culture” and “organizational culture”. Cross-cultural management is being considered as a branch of modern cognitive management that explores the problems of managing company employees’ behavior in conditions of a changing cross-cultural environment that is based on knowledge of cultural differences to guide them to the development of the company and achieve its goals. The conceptual foundations of cross-cultural studies of the phenomenon of “culture” have been defined, which, in comparison with existing developments, take into account the bifurcation of the goals of cross-cultural research by combining an etic approach and an emic approach in the study of the phenomenon of “culture”, considering it as a universal and specific phenomenon in the context of cross-cultural management. The methodological approach to defining cross-cultural peculiarities of the functioning of multinational companies in different national cultures has been specified. It is based on the concept of cultural factors and allows to determine the influence of the respective national culture on the directions of managerial impact by taking into account the manifestation of cultural factors and values inherent to the culture. The methodical approach to the development of a value profile of culture at different levels (generational and organizational) has been formed. The theoretical principles of generational theory have been specified to describe the generational culture of contemporary Ukrainian generations on the basis of the emic approach. The key characteristics of modern Ukrainian generations («silent» generation, baby boomers, generation X, generation Y and generation Z) are identified. It is determined that five modern Ukrainian generations are now at different stages of their life cycle: «silent» generation, baby boomers, generation X, generation Y and generation Z. It is proved that only in 3-5 years the time limits of birth of Ukrainian generations differ from the corresponding generations of Western Europe and the USA. The methodical approach to diagnosing the organizational culture of a multinational company in the context of the cross-cultural management value approach has been substantiated. The methodological approach to the evaluation of the components of multinational company staff management has been developed. And it includes the theoretical basis for the evaluation of the components of multinational company staff management and three methodical approaches: the approach to the generalized assessment of the development level of multinational company staff management, the approach to the assessment of the level of development of multinational company and the approach to the assessment of the level of readiness of multinational company staff to cross-cultural interaction. Each of them allows to calculate the corresponding integral index, and the results allow to generate practical recommendations on multinational company staff management according to certain components. Practical recommendations for multinational company staff management in a cross-cultural environment have been substantiated.
