The dissertation is the first comprehensive study of the constitutional and legal foundations of bicameralism in modern European countries. The paper reveals the content of bicameralism as an object of study of modern constitutional law science, the genesis of bicameralism in modern countries of Europe and the world, bicameralism as a principle of organization and activity of a bicameral parliament, bicameralism as an element of the system of checks and balances. In the dissertation, bicameralism is analyzed from the point of view of the idea, the constitutional principle, the institute, as an object of constitutional legal research, a methodology for studying the phenomenon of bicameralism is also proposed.
